Who helps parents navigate the education system?

The system can feel deliberately opaque, but there is help available. IPSEA (Independent Provider of Special Education Advice) offers free legal advice to families. SOS!SEN runs a helpline for SEND-related queries. Your local authority must have an SENDIASS service (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service) – free, impartial, and available to all families. Contact a Family supports parents of disabled children. And many schools have SENCO staff whose role includes supporting parents through the process.
